My husband sprays weeds in the oil field so he has to wear fr, flame resistant, clothing. They are so much more expensive and heavier than regular clothing. So one day I wondered why it has to be fr, so I researched fr. Flame resistant/retardant doesn’t mean that it will not burn or catch fire, it means that as soon as the shirt/ pants do catch fire it will not continue to feed the fire and burn the whole shirt, pants or whatever fr gear you are wearing. So yes I will continue to buy the expensive fr gear for my husband to wear so he won’t lose his job or if he does catch fire, come home with awful burns every where because his clothing fed the fire and stuck to his skin.Top quality and fast deliveryI am a new student in Welding and I was wearing a thick welding coat in the Alabama summer heat and it was burning me up. My instructor recommended a FR shirt instead of a jacket. I was weary about how much it could protect but after using it the first day I fell in love with it. It lets air flow thru better than the jacket did so I recommend this product to anyone who welds. The only thing I didn’t like about the product was its price. Otherwise, it serves its purpose.I bought this shirt for my son’s welding class. He is 6’5” so, Carhartt is one of the only brands that’s made long to fit him. The shirt is durable and speaks to the quality that you would expect from the Carhartt brand.Comfortability… It’s a thick canvas welding shirt, that’s being used in temperatures over 100°….I'm not gunna lie, these are obviously not the best FR shirt out there. But I dare anyone to go find a good FR shirt for this price. So for the price, these shirts are nice.Great productJust as described, very nice, heavy-duty shirt. Washes very well, and dries without wrinkles (even if you forget it in the dryer). Just a fantastic shirt for larger/taller men, as it does go well past the waist. My one major complaint is the black color is not a true black, it's quite faded and actually looks like a dark navy after a couple of washings. But I absolutely recommend this shirt! To all those who have given this product poor reviews claiming poor performance: this product is mostly made of cotton. Yes, one can burn a hole through cotton with 2000-degree metal slag from welds. Yes, one can feel heat through 1/20 an inch of cotton fabric. Yes, a heavy cotton shirt offers no prolonged protection from walking into a wall of flames.I wear this shirt while loading a blast furnace. Along with full-face protection and appropriate gloves, I am momentarily (less than a second) exposed to 2000-degree flames blowing back at me which lick at my protective gear. To date, I've melted my hat, gotten some blisters around my wrists when something sneaks past the cuffs of the gloves and have in fact suffered a single burn through the cuff button area of the shirt. However, before owning this shirt, I was getting cooked on a regular basis.Get the right gear and have realistic expectations for the tools. Great fit and feel it’s a work/welding shirt.I’ll destroy it by the end of the year and get another one.Fits great. Carhartt seems to be the best fitting apparel for tall and fit men. I’ve tried BigBill and others, and by the time I find a size large enough for my shoulders and arms, the bottom hangs off of me like a shower curtain...good product, good quality, lots of room for movement, wear it 340 days a year, replace once a year, needed for the oil and gas industryThis shirt fits true. The fabric isn't as soft as my husband would have wanted, but it is a very good quality shirt.
